Fuchs Blackjack 21 Vs Lucky 7
Up for sale is my Fuchs Lucky 7 head. I bought it about 2 years ago from a seller on The Gear Page. I'd call it 9 out of 10 cosmetics-wise. It's 100% in working order. It's never left my smoke free home. It will ship with a Mullard EL34 XF1, a Tung Sol 12ax7 and JJ 12ax7, so will not need retubing in order to get amazing tone. As is, it's very much in that 'baby Marshall' territory. I've also experimented with some NOS 6V6s and 6L6s as well as a JJ KT77. While the Mullard is very Marshall, I had a NOS Sylvania 6L6 in it at one point that put it squarely in Fender-land. With all the octal tube options, it's about as versatile as you'll find. A great way to get cranked amp tones at manageable volumes. Will easily keep up with a loud drummer. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Dan
Here is the official spiel from Fuchs:
Voiced like its bigger siblings the Train-45® and Blackjack 21®, the Lucky-7® has a classic rock voice similar to a vintage Marshall™ or Trainwreck™ style amp. It provides a cutting rock edge, yet filled with harmonic richness and chime.
The Lucky 7® brings the high build quality and awesome tone's people expect of Fuchs products to a new more affordable price range. The Lucky 7® is based on a dual 12AX7 preamp stage and a unique single ended 7-watt EL-34 fixed bias output stage. By switching to a 6V6, you can reduce power to less than 5-watts. Unlike other amps in this price range, the Lucky 7® has a full compliment of extremely flexible tone controls. A surprising amount of clean headroom is available before the output stage begins distorting with a sweet yet cutting rock edge. Voiced like its bigger siblings the Train 45® and Blackjack 21®, the Lucky 7® has a classic rock voice similar to a vintage Marshall™ or Trainwreck™ style amp. It provides a cutting rock edge, yet filled with harmonic richness and chime. The circuit design also is “attenuator friendly”. The Lucky 7® and its higher powered sibling the Blackjack 21® have a preamp stage designed to allow clean-to-mean from the guitar volume control.
The chassis (like all Fuchs® products) is aircraft grade aluminum; our internal construction is mixed PC board and hard wired. On the Lucky 7® and Blackjack 21®, the preamp tubes and power supply circuitry are on the circuit card, while the power tubes and transformer are mounted on the chassis. A detachable power cord is standard. By using single point grounding, the amp is quiet and free of hum at all operating levels.

  3. Jul 23, 2014  Just got a fuchs ods: best amp ever? Discussion in 'Other Amps' started by usablefiber, Jun 2, 2014. I have both Lucky 7 and Train45. The tone is so articulate and immediate, I sometimes shake my head in disbelief. I just listen to my friend crank up a Lucky Blackjack 21 full blast.

I wanted to love the Blackjack 21 - the power level is so well suited to the real world, and the tone was so close, except for this possible deal-breaker. When I played the even lighter (10lbs) Lucky 7, I didn't notice a similar crumbly bass, nor during my brief wide-eyed rip with a Train-45. BlackJack-21 and Lucky-7 series are single channel non master style amps with a more rock and roll attitude than the Fuchs ODS and TDS amps. This new series of amps offers that rock and roll tone and attitude in varying power levels.
